| Michael and Hannah had four children 1, Mary Magdalene Carey Aug 10 1892-Nov 6 1978 2. Margaret "Peg" "Maggie" Carey Aug 10 1892-Aug 1973 3. Kathryn "Kit" "Katie" Carey Apr 1893- 4. Ellen " Ella" Carey Oct 10 1898-Nov 16 2001 It appears Michael arrived in United States April 29, 2023 with his brother Anthony on a ship called Greece , Hannah in 1876 per 1900 Census, Michael worked in the mines around Lost Creek but was injured & then moved to Centralia where he was employment as a trolley car conductor. He later moved to later moved to Girardville. Quote from email Jim Fitzgibbon -" grandson of Ed Carey and Mary Sweeney, I lived with them on Preston Ave, G-ville for most of my early years. Also living on Preston Ave were your Grand parents Ed/Rose Connors as were my aunts Nellie Monaghan and Anna Jordan who lived together just a few houses up from Uncle Ed and Aunt Rose. I spent many hrs in my youth at the kitchen table of these folks and have lots of family memories and history. Living on Preston ave. were my next door neighbors, Catherine, Ella and Peg Carey, none married. They are the daughters of Mike Carey, (i believe their mother was a Smith from Mahanoy Plane"THE FOOT") brother of Anthony. Mike was well know for his humor and beer making ability which he did prodigiously in his cellar. He built the houses at 327/329 Preston Ave. Ed and Mary Carey lived at 327,bought the house in 1925 for 5K , mortgage was 12 dollars first Wed of the month. Uncle Mike and family lived in 327. Last survivor of the three girls was Ella, lived to be 104yrs old."
Hanna's Parents are unknown at this time. Hanna and Michael it appears did not marry in Schuylkill County. There appears to be no record of the marriiage in the court records at this time. Hanna's parents are unknown at this time as well as the ship she arrived on. There seemed to be some confusion on the pictue above of Michael and Hannah Carey. Michael's hair was shaved on earlier pictures. The picture above has been confrimed that tis is Michael and Hannah Carey, by the head researcher of the family L. Carey. This picture hung in the house of Michael Carey for many years, per Jimmy Fitzgibbons. .
